Environmental care in the production process

CVG has its own total energy power plant. We make optimal use of our primary energy source, natural gas, thanks to combined electricity/heat production and electricity resupply. This system enables a very high energy yield in comparison to large power stations and thus fits in excellently with government policy aimed at limiting CO2 emissions.

Purification of waste water
CVG also has its own installation for purifying waste water, and it uses purified surface water from the Rhine as process water. This means that we do not use any ground water. CVG purifies the process water in two stages: first through a physical-chemical purification and then by biological purification, up to a quality level higher than that required by the discharge permit. Only then do we return the water to the North Sea Canal.

Environmental reporting
Our products are not poisonous or harmful to health and they can be re-used without limitation. We can be proud of our efforts to make the environment a priority in our production. We report on our goals and performances in the area of the environment, for instance in our Sustainability Report.

Environmental certificates
Crown Van Gelder recognizes its responsibility for the environment as a whole, for its surroundings and for the working conditions within the factory. Because we want to anchor these aspects and the appropriate qualities within our organization, we work in accordance with the integrated quality, health & safety and environmental system known as KAM.
